What is hamradio ?
I will try to answer that question quickly:
Most people confuse CB radio and amateur radio. However both dont have
a lot in common. In order to become a radio am you have to pass an examination with
the Authorities
(RegTP) which consists of technical knowledge as well as laws and operation
techniques.
Possibly you will also have to pass an examination in Morse.
There are different licence classifications with different rights and different
examination
criteria. For example with the so called licence class 1, you can operate the
following
services:
Short wave - wavelength
1.815 - 1.835 Mhz
3.5 - 3.6 Mhz
7.0 - 7.1 Mhz
10.1 - 10.15 Mhz
14.0 - 14.35 Mhz
18.068 - 18.168 Mhz
21.0 - 21.45 Mhz
24.89 - 24.99 Mhz
28.0 - 29.7 Mhz
FM and higher
144 - 146 Mhz
430 - 440Mhz
1240 - 1300 Mhz and a few more
up to 750 Watt
One can assemble the transmitter and receiver themselves and all possible services
are
allowed, like speaking on FM,AM, LSB,USB or in Morse, fax,
SSTV (slow scan TV), ATV (amateur television), RTTY (radio teletype), Pactor,
Amtor and a lot more.
In this way, all distances can be covered throughout the world and even further
like EME connections (earth-moon-earth). There are several amateur satellites in
the orbit from where pictures can be received or connections via them can be made.
Promoting the youth is also the focus of interest.
This was just one part of the subject "Amateur radio"
So, thats far enough with our little excursion into the world of amateur radio,
